RODNEY JOINS QUAKERS ON LOAN
Bradford City have allowed striker Nialle Rodney to join non-league side
Darlington on a one-month loan deal.
The 20-year-old moved to Valley Parade in the summer from Nottingham Forest,
but he quickly picked up an ankle injury that kept him sidelined for six
weeks.
Bantams boss Phil Parkinson is keen for Rodney to work his way back to full
fitness at the Blue Square Bet Premier side.
Rodney will join the Darlington squad for their trip to Braintree on
Saturday.
===
Guy Branston was shown a straight red card less than an hour into
his second Millers debut. Branston is also ineligible for the clash
with parent club Bradford City and the FA Cup first round in November,
meaning he will be missing for the next five matches.

Saturday evening match report
NPower League Two
Bradford C (0) 2 Fagan pen 64, Hanson 69
Northampton (0) 1 Jacobs 58

By Simon Parker (T&A)
City came from behind to grab a morale-boosting victory over Northampton
this afternoon.
The Bantams fell behind to another long-range rocket but hit back quickly
through skipper for the day Craig Fagan's penalty.
And James Hanson, back from his calf injury, sealed the fight-back when he
headed home City's second.
The first half was a sterile spectacle with very little to keep the crowd
entertained.
Northampton's on-loan debutant Saido Berahino nearly managed to wriggle his
way clear, only to be thwarted by a crucial tackle from Marcel Seip in the
box.
It took City half an hour to show any hint of a threat as Robbie Threlfall's
dangerous cross just eluded both front two in the six-yard area.
There was no chance at either end until two minutes before the break when
Michael Bryan, making his first start for two months, cleverly fashioned
some room in a crowded midfield to chip over keeper Sam Walker and against
the Northampton bar.
It was a rare moment of inspiration in a disappointing 45 minutes and raised
hopes that City would pick things up after the break.
Fagan's shot on the turn flew over at the start of the second half before
the striker missed a clear chance, putting a free header wide from Kyel
Reid's cross.
Just as City seemed to be raising the tempo, they were shaken up by another
long-range stunner as Michael Jacobs rifled home from 35 yards.
But they got straight back four minutes later as Bryan's cross was handled
by Andy Holt. Once Northampton's protests died down, Fagan confidently
thumped the spot-kick into the roof of the net.
And City then got their noses in front after 69 minutes. Reid delivered a
superb cross to the far post where Hanson stooped to head home his fifth
goal of the campaign.
There was a late scare when sub Jake Robinson - a previous hat-trick scorer
against City for Shrewsbury - fired over the bar when unmarked.

City boss Phil Parkinson has made an alteration to his backroom staff by promoting Dave Hanson up to the position of Head Physio.
Hanson originally joined the Bantams on a part time basis back in August to work with City's Under 18's but he will now work full time with Parkinson's senior squad members.
The 42 year old has also left his role as FC Halifax Town's first team physio as a result.
Parkinson said: "Dave has joined us now as our head physio.
"I felt that the physio department needed changing around a bit and Dave will bring some more experience to the position.
"I'm delighted Dave has agreed to accept the role and I look forward to working with him going forward this season."
Current member of the club's physiotherapy department Chris Royston will remain at the football club but his colleague Mark Cox has now departed.

Craig Fagan and James Hanson put boot into Cobblers
6:20am Monday 24th October 2011
By Simon Parker
City 2, Northampton 1
What have Saturday and last New Year's Day at Lincoln got in common? City won both 2-1 – but there is another significant similarity.
When James Hanson stooped to nod home Kyel Reid's peach of a cross, incredibly it was the first time that both of the Bantams front two had scored in the same game since January 1.
Hanson also netted that day at Sincil Bank before Gareth Evans drilled the winner. Now, 42 matches later, it has finally happened again. Fair to say, it's not a moment too soon.
Phil Parkinson has consistently championed the potential of a Hanson and Fagan partnership.
The signs were very promising at Burton before Hanson's calf went and kept him sidelined for three weeks. The pair were finally back in unison at the weekend, where their manager's faith was immediately justified.
Okay, you can get picky and say that Fagan's goal came from the penalty spot, not open play. It's hardly an indication of a Mills and Blake reincarnation.
But fans can see the emergence of a pretty decent double act – and it's been far too long since we've witnessed that at Valley Parade.
The scoreline and the names on the scoresheet were the major pluses in a game that will not live very long in the memory. But a win's a win and this one was much needed to give everyone a little peace of mind.
Parkinson has repeatedly preached patience while his new arrivals find their feet in regular action. But even he had stressed on Friday that it was about time now that they came to the party.
Ahead of back-to-back away games this week – and City currently suffer the worst travelling record in the division – three points at home was imperative.
Having said that, the first half is best glossed over. It was a non-event as a spectacle, though Gary Johnson could claim a tactical victory over Parkinson with Northampton's 3-5-2 set-up catching the home side off their guard.
Parkinson had watched the Cobblers roll over at Port Vale the previous week and that formation had certainly not come up in his intensive preparations.
With the man advantage in midfield, Northampton effectively stifled the game to the point of tears. City were unable to find any room to work in and the uncertainty following on from Hereford was evident in their caution.
The only spark came two minutes from the break when, out of nothing, Michael Bryan cleverly conjured a chance single-handed and chipped against the bar.
The Watford winger had been brought in from the cold for his first start in two months but, like his team-mates, had made little headway up to that point.
But thankfully that strike seemed to release the handbrake. Bryan and City improved noticeably from the restart.
Fagan had two chances, one a glaring miss from a free header set up by Reid. But then Northampton suddenly struck with their first shot in anger – and what a shot it was.
If City want to make a few bob in the Christmas market, they should think about releasing a DVD of great goals scored against them.
The 30-plus yarder from Michael Jacobs took its place alongside Steve Leslie's free-kick the week before and others that have flown past Matt Duke from way out.
City's keeper has still to convince many supporters but, while his command of corners looked uncertain at times, he had absolutely no chance with the wickedly swerving effort that crashed inside his near post.
It was a pivotal moment for the home side. How would they react to the shock of finding themselves trailing out of the blue? Within four minutes we had a positive answer – with a helping hand from Northampton.
It was Andy Holt's left arm actually which blocked Bryan's cross. Desperate claims that the midfielder had taken the ball on his nose were ignored by referee Steve Rushton and Fagan shrugged off some blatant time-wasting to blast the spot-kick into the roof of the net.
A collective weight was lifted as Valley Parade came alive. An afternoon that had drifted from tedium to despair had suddenly become one of hope and redemption.
And the result that Parkinson craved to wipe away the misery of Edgar Street was secured seven minutes later thanks to the cross of the match from Reid.
Bryan got the sponsors' vote for man of the match and could be well pleased with his efforts after a long spell on the shelf. But it is Reid who gets people on their feet and scares the living daylights out of defenders.
His pass had power and bend and totally foxed the Northampton back three as it sought out Hanson's obliging head at the far post.
The big man made an awkward finish look a formality as he gobbled up his fifth goal of the campaign.
Valley Parade, which had been a wall of silence during that mind-numbing first 45 minutes, was alive again with relief as much as joy. With Reid pulling the strings and Fagan making sure every pass forward stuck, City too found that spark to their play.
There was one last scare for a defence that had been well marshalled by Marcel Seip and the ultra-consistent Luke Oliver. Adam Reed, again an unconvincing figure in centre midfield, gave the ball away with a loose header and allowed Saido Berahino to set up an unmarked Jake Robinson on the edge of the penalty area.
Fortunately the fella who had put a hat-trick past the Bantams with Shrewsbury on the opening day of last season fired this one high into the TL Dallas Stand and the danger had passed.
City could celebrate back-to-back home wins and once again – maybe, just maybe – start looking upwards. At least they can look at the forwards with some optimism.

Saturday evening match report
NPower League Two
Hereford U (0) 2 Leslie 79, Barkhuizen 89
Bradford C (0) 0
Att: 2,462
By Simon Parker (T&A)
Two second-half goals sent City slumping to a dismal defeat at Hereford -
and they again finished with only ten men.
Skipper Michael Flynn was dismissed for two bookings and the Bulls, who had
lost five of their previous six home games, took full advantage.
Steve Leslie whammed home the resulting free-kick from way out, though Matt
Duke will feel he should have done better given the distance.
And Tom Barkhuizen ensured it would be another miserable away trip with a
late second.
The first quarter of the game was uneventful with City playing some neat
football without success.
But they were giving the ball away too often and a needlessly-conceded
corner nearly proved their undoing in the 26th minute. The set piece was
cleared out to left back Joe Heath whose 30-yard screamer flew past Duke and
smacked against the bar.
City had a big chance five minutes later after great skill from Jamie
Devitt. His reverse pass set up Fagan against Dave Cornell but the striker
lifted his shot over the bar as he dinked it over the keeper.
Nathan Elder looped a header over at the other end and Duke saved Heath's
nod from one of Hereford's regular long throw-ins. But it had been a bitty
half.
Luke Oliver's battle with Elder was a good one and the big defender won a
crucial challenge on the edge of the six-yard box.
Adam Reed half-volleyed over from a City corner but they escaped a strong
penalty shout from Hereford's next one as the ball struck Ritchie Jones on
the arm.
Flynn was booked after 70 minutes for a foul on Leslie, whose free-kick then
forced an alert tip-over from Duke.
And the skipper was given his marching orders seven minutes later as he ran
into the breaking Harry Pell.
Leslie threw salt into the wounds by firing the free-kick over the wall and
past Duke from 30 yards out.
And as City pushed desperately for a response, Hereford made sure of the win
when Barkhuizen finished off following a neat interchange with Pell.
After the elation of the previous week, it was back down to earth with a
bump for the Bantams who still cannot win away.
They were off the pace after the break and instead of maintaining their
momentum up the table find themselves dragged back far too close to the
bottom.

Full-time: Hereford United 2 Bradford City 0
4:57pm Saturday 15th October 2011
By Ian Morgan
Full time: Hereford 2 Bradford City 0
LATE goals from loan rangers Steven Leslie and Tom Barkhuizen fired Hereford to a vital victory over 10-man Bradford at a delighted Edgar Street this afternoon.
Barkhuizen sealed the win, in the 89th minute, when he linked up superbly with substitute Yoann Arquin to poke the ball past Matt Duke from close range.
A wonderful Beckham-esque free-kick from Leslie had put Hereford on the road to only their second win of the campaign with the Bulls' opener in the 79th minute.
Leslie's brilliant 30-yard curler was just seconds after City skipper Michael Flynn had been red-carded for his second caution when he brought down Harry Pell in full flight.
Leslie had signalled his intent in the first half when his 25-yard beat Matt Duke but crashed against the underside of the bar before being cleared to safety.
Hereford deserved their win – they created the best chances in a scrappy second half with Nathan Elder miscuing in front of goal after a run and cross from the lively Barkhuizen.
Former Blackburn and Derby defender Andy Todd was outstanding on his Hereford debut alongside skipper Stefan Stam.
Bradford threatened in the first half and the experienced Craig Fagan missed a glorious opening in the 31st minute.
Fagan was played in by Jamie Devitt and, with only Dave Cornell to beat, he lifted the ball over the top from six yards.
A low drive from Bradford's Flynn, in the 17th minute, flashed narrowly wide of the diving Cornell's left-hand post.
United's Elder was not too far away from his first goal for the Bulls five minutes before the break when he headed Joe Heath's cross over the bar.

BRADFORD CITY PLAN TO REPEAT CUT-PRICE TICKET OFFER
By Simon Parker (T&A)
City will look to drop prices again later in the season after 11,738 fans
watched the win over Torquay.
The club's decision to slash admission fees to a fiver for home and away
supporters last week attracted the biggest crowd of the campaign – up 1,500
on the previous Valley Parade attendance.
Joint-chairman Mark Lawn said: "We were fairly happy with the turn-out and
if we were doing it when the results were better we'd probably have got a
few more.
"But it was a good response and seemed to go down well with the fans. They
generated a loud atmosphere around the ground and I'm sure that helped the
team."
City topped the division for attendances once again last season with an
average of 11,127. That was boosted by two bumper figures when prices were
slashed to just £1 entry.
A 15,332 crowd saw Peter Taylor's last game against Stockport in February,
with 13,814 enticed by the same offer for a midweek meeting with Burton two
months later.
But before Saturday, the Valley Parade average from the first five home
games of the current campaign had dipped just below 10,000. The matches with
Dagenham and Barnet, admittedly clubs with low travelling support, had seen
the first four-figure gates since the cut-price scheme was introduced in
2007.
City hope the Torquay offer will rekindle interest and plan a repeat at some
later stage.
Lawn added: "We did a couple last season when we dropped the prices and we
will look to do it again, as and when we can. But we've got to make sure we
don't alienate our season-ticket holders. They are our main importance
because season tickets are a major part of our income."
City are already discussing their season-ticket scheme for next year and are
holding regular meetings with a panel of supporters to canvas their views.
Lawn said: "We're getting some very interesting feedback from the fans; not
particularly on the pricing but the ways they want to structure it and
whether we should have a membership scheme.
"We normally do something around Christmas time and the focus group seem to
like the idea of that. So that's something we're looking at again.
"We haven't gone to a particular supporters' group. The focus panel is made
up of individual fans across the whole demographic, whether it's single
parents, families, unemployed people.
"It's quite a varied group and has proved very interesting and worthwhile so
far."

Man Utd ordered to cough up Cleverley fee to Bradford
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Fri, 10/14/2011 - 09:18
Manchester United will have to cough up to Bradford City for the signing of Tom Cleverley.
The Sun says the League Two strugglers, who lie 89th in the football pyramid, argued they were due fees totalling over £100,000 for Cleverley's loan moves.
The midfield star, 22, who has been included in the England squad, left Bradford for United when he was 12.
A clause in the contract stated Bradford would be paid 10 per cent of fees whenever Cleverley's registration was transferred.
United argued the agreement only applied to a permanent transfer but Bradford claimed it applied to loans too and the clubs have now settled.

Phil Parkinson on the Hereford United defeat
The City boss has the following to say about the game and Michael Flynn's sending off: "The sending-off killed us. To get booked I was annoyed with – then to do the other foul when there was no need for it cost us the game. Their second goal came when we were chasing the game, when we were trying to get back in there. Our two centre-halves played well and were unlucky to be on the losing side, but the sending off cost us."
"We didn't produce the football I know we can, but sometimes when you are away from home you don't get the chance to do that. But you want to make sure you get back on the coach with something. Our centre-halves dealt with everything and I can't fault them, but when we went down to 10 men we became disjointed."

Saturday evening match report
NPower League Two
Bradford C (1) 1 Fagan 38
Torquay Utd (0) 0
Att: 11,738
By Simon Parker (T&A)
Craig Fagan's first goal for 19 months clinched Phil Parkinson's first win
as City's ten men claimed a gutsy success against Torquay.
The Bantams played three quarters of the game a man short after Andrew
Davies was harshly sent off.
But Fagan scored for the first time since March 2010 and a rock-solid team
effort saw them through to three hard-earned and fully-deserved points.
Fagan should have scored with the game's first chance after 14 minutes,
blazing over the bar when unmarked from 15 yards out.
But referee Colin Boyeson threw a huge spanner in the works when he showed
Davies a straight red card for his challenge on Danny Stevens.
The defender's dismissal and the sense of frustration sparked the crowd, who
appealed for a card with every Torquay foul.
The injustice lifted City's performance and they grabbed the lead seven
minutes before the break, Fagan making up for his earlier miss by turning
home Luke Oliver's knockdown.
The home side were worth the advantage although Matt Duke twice had to deny
Kevin Nicholson.
With Mark Stewart dropping back into midfield, Fagan was left in the lone
role up front.
But the woodwork denied him an audacious second ten minutes after the break.
Fagan latched on to Liam Moore's long clearance, lobbing keeper Robert
Olejnik from 30 yards as he rushed out - only to watch the ball bounce back
off the bar.
City were fuming with the official again when Eunan O'Kane was only
yellow-carded when he fouled Kyel Reid on the edge of the box as the winger
looked to go clear. Robbie Threlfall's free-kick was tipped behind by
Olejnik.
Torquay threw men forward in the closing stages - including Olejnik for two
corners in stoppage time - but City battled hard to see the job through with
their first clean sheet in 19 league games.

Bradford City: Davies' punishment does not fit the crime, says Parkinson
7:30am Tuesday 11th October 2011
By Simon Parker
Phil Parkinson called on the Football Association to review their disciplinary system after reluctantly accepting Andrew Davies' three-match ban.
City decided against appealing over the defender's dismissal in Saturday's win over Torquay in case it was extended.
Parkinson admitted that referee Carl Boyeson was technically within his right to send Davies off because both his feet were raised in a tackle on Danny Stevens. But he felt the centre half's punishment will far outweigh the crime.
The City boss reckons Davies should not be hit with the same blanket ban for an instant red card as a player going into a challenge with malicious intent.
Parkinson said: "I've been saying this for a while but I really disagree with the ruling.
"You can elbow somebody in the face, break their jaw and be done for three games. Or you can go in for an honest challenge like that one, make contact with the ball and still get the same ban.
"I just feel there is a massive discrepancy which the FA need to be looking at. There should be some way of looking at different instances – for Andrew to be missing three games for that is too much."

No more Cleverley cash
City will not receive a bonus payment from Tom Cleverley's new contract at Manchester United.
The clubs recently came to an undisclosed agreement over the Bradford-raised midfielder's loan moves.

Sub Nialle Rodney held his nerve to slot home the deciding kick as City won
4-3 from the spot.
It was no more than they deserved having led twice before the game finished

Phil Parkinson made six changes from Saturday but one of them, Ross Hannah,
lasted only seven minutes before limping off with a knee injury.
Huddersfield had most of the first-half possession without really

City's best chance came just after the half hour with a Mark Stewart header.
The Scot also had another shot deflected over.
Lee should have put Huddersfield in front at the start of the second half

Huddersfield levelled with a Tommy Miller penalty before Luke Oliver nodded
City ahead for the second time.
But again the advantage did not last long as Peter Clarke volleyed another

Saturday evening match report
Burton 2 City 2
4:55pm Saturday 1st October 2011
By Simon Parker
City threw away another lead and had to settle for a point in an entertaining clash at Burton this afternoon.
The Bantams were 2-0 up and appeared to be cruising before the home side hit back twice before the break.
City began like a train and were a goal up inside six minutes as Kyel Reid ran unchecked before firing home his second for the club.
It got even better ten minutes later as City increased their lead. Reid caused havoc again and his low cross was slid in by James Hanson.
City were comfortably on top with Reid a constant threat every time he got the ball.
But the momentum started to shift when Calvin Zola's header just beat the far post.
And things changed dramatically in the closing six minutes of the first half.
First Billy Kee swept in a cross from Jimmy Phillips before Justin Richards brought the home side level with a stoppage-time penalty after Robbie Threlfall handled Adam Bolder's shot.
City walked off at the interval looking stunned after letting a game that they had been bossing suddenly slip from their grasp.
On-loan Sunderland midfielder Adam Reed nearly restored City's lead but Ross Atkins managed to push his low shot round the post.
Both sides pushed for the win but a draw was the fair result. But given the way they had played for the opening half hour, City will look at it as the one that got away.

Burton Albion 2 Bradford City 2: Parkinson highlights 'heroic performances' in encouraging draw
Published on Monday 3 October 2011 03:29
PHIL Parkinson believes Bradford City are moving in the right direction despite being kept waiting for his first victory as manager.
The new Valley Parade manager saw his side surrender a two-goal lead at the Pirelli Stadium but insisted: "We've taken a big step forward and we're going to get better."
City seemed to be on their way to their second win of the League Two campaign after goals from Kyel Reid and James Hanson in the first 16 minutes.
But in-form Burton striker Billy Kee reduced the deficit in the 38th minute and Justin Richards levelled the scores with a disputed penalty at the end of an action-packed first half.
Parkinson criticised referee Eddie Ilderton for awarding the stoppage time spot kick against the Bantams after Robbie Threlfall was adjudged to have handled a shot from former City midfielder Adam Bolder.
Parkinson snapped: "I was livid with the referee because Robbie had his arms down by his side in a natural position and no way was it deliberate handball."
The decision cost City their first win since August 27, but Parkinson was hugely encouraged by his side's performance.
He said: "I thought we responded really well to losing the lead with some heroic performances.
"I think we're moving forward step by step – and today was a good step forward.
"What we've got over the rest of the teams is that we're going to keep adding to the squad and we're going to get better."
Reid wreaked havoc in the opening stages with a super solo goal in the sixth minute before setting up James Hanson for his fourth of the season.
The result, however, left City still third from bottom with seven points from 11 games and Burton in 10th.

Everton to sign Bradford City starlet George Green in whopping £2million deal
12:10am Monday 3rd October 2011
Exclusive By Simon Parker »
City are set to sell a teenage prodigy to Everton in a mega-bucks deal that will bank them up to £2 million.
Everton have beaten off interest from over 20 clubs, including some from abroad, to sign 15-year-old midfielder George Green, who is seen as one of the hottest prospects in the country.
The deal was done at Saturday's Merseyside derby after talks between Archie Christie, Peter Horne and Everton boss David Moyes.
Tottenham and Rangers were also chasing Dewsbury-born Green but he felt a move to Everton – and their reputation for blooding youngsters – was the best choice.
City will initially receive nearly £300,000 for a player who has come up through the school of excellence.
The deal is structured to include further bonuses for appearances, new contracts, potential international appearances and a bumper sell-on clause from any future transfer fee.
Head of football development Christie said: "This is one of the highest deals ever for a 15-year-old from a League Two club. But George is the best I've seen in his position at his age. He could become another Wayne Rooney or Paul Gascoigne."

Marcel Seip
Oct 7th
City have signed Dutch defender Marcel Seip on a three-month contract. The 29-year-old has been training with the club after leaving Plymouth Argyle in the summer. Right-back Seip (who also plays at centre-back) is eligible to feature in the Saturdays clash with Torquay United.
Born in Winschoten, Seip made his debut for Eerste Divisie side BV Veendam in 1999 before moving to Eredivisie club SC Heerenveen in 2001. He then made the move across the North sea in 2006 to sign for Plymouth Argyle (who were still in the Championship at the time). The Dutch defender spent four season at Home Park and he also had loan periods at Blackpool, Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic.
Also today City midfielder Luke Dean has become the latest Bantam to be allowed out on loan after agreeing to join Blue Square Bet North side Harrogate Town. Dean has signed a one month deal with Town and is now expected to make the first appearance of his loan period against Gainsborough Trinity at Harrogate's CNG Stadium.

Valley Parade's 125th birthday celebrations went flat as City slipped to
another depressing defeat at the hands of AFC Wimbledon.
Boos greeted the final whistle after a result which left Phil Parkinson's
men still wallowing at the wrong end of League Two.
Hereford drew level on points while bottom club Plymouth's first win of the
season brought them within two.
And for the second week running, City were beaten despite scoring the
opening goal.
With new centre half Andrew Davies replacing Guy Branston, Michael Flynn
marked his first game as captain with his fourth goal of the season and
third penalty.
But rather than paving the way for a first win under Phil Parkinson, instead
it was the league new boys who clawed their way back to claim three points.
City almost got off to the perfect start as keeper Seb Brown headed a
clearance against the on-rushing James Hanson. Time stood still as the whole
ground watched the rebound bounce against the post and away.
Matt Duke palmed away Sam Hatton's free-kick before the home side went in
front after 25 minutes with another penalty.
Again Jamie Devitt was involved, caught by Gareth Gwillim's high boot as the
defender tried to clear. Ref Mark Brown pointed straight to the spot and
Flynn confidently dispatched the penalty.
But Wimbledon were level within six minutes as Jack Midson fired home from
Christian Jolley's cushioned knockdown.
Ritchie Jones had a good effort from long range but the game had become
subdued as it reached half-time.
Both sides swapped headers to start the second half, Luke Moore at one end
and Hanson stretching Brown at the other.
But City ran into more problems in the 57th minute. Nobody closed down
Jolley when he received a pass 25 yards out, allowing the Wimbledon
midfielder to pick his spot with a superb curler into the top corner.
Craig Fagan was summoned from the bench and nearly levelled with a thumping
half-volley that flew narrowly over the bar.
City showed the occasional neat build-up in the closing stages but nothing
to seriously hurt the solid Wimbledon defence and save a miserable
afternoon.

Bradford City: Lilleshall trip helps accelerate Ramsden's recovery
6:50am Wednesday 28th September 2011
By Simon Parker
Simon Ramsden is preparing for a second stint at Lilleshall Sports Injury Rehab after making big strides on the comeback trail.
Phil Parkinson believes the injury-ravaged defender could be only three weeks away from rejoining City for full training.
Parkinson has been delighted with Ramsden's improvement from spending a week at the specialist centre in Shropshire, so he is keen to send him back there for more.
He said: "Simon's progressing really well. He's mentally very positive and physically looking a lot stronger.
"He's back with us for a few days and then he's going to Lilleshall for another week. They are pleased with him and, if all goes to plan, he should be back in training within three weeks or so."
Parkinson is not surprised at the impact that the first spell of intensive treatment has had with Ramsden. The one-to-one sessions – which are paid for by the Professional Footballers' Association – ensure the injured player gets priority attention.
"I've been to Lilleshall as a player myself and know the difference it can make," said the Bantams boss.
"I had injury issues at the time which seemed to be going nowhere. But getting eight hours a day of solid treatment just focused on you was fantastic.
"It can be a bit soul-destroying being injured and coming in (to the club) every day. You can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
"Physios can work with players all the time and sometimes it needs someone else to step back and assess things.
"Simon's gone away to a different place, hearing a different voice, and he's buzzing. I'm confident we will get him back and I don't think it will be too long."

Devitt picks up knock
Posted on: Tue 27 Sep 2011
City will monitor a knock picked up by Jamie Devitt in last Saturday's match with AFC Wimbledon ahead of their trip to Burton Albion at the weekend.
The Dubliner has a problem with his hip flexor after appearing to fall awkwardly in the second half of the Dons fixture at the Coral Windows Stadium.
Devitt was replaced shortly afterwards and City boss Phil Parkinson says the club will be looking at his progress.
Parkinson said: "Jamie's got a bit of a hip flexor problem from the weekend.
"It's something that will be looked into.
"He's an important player for us and his form has been a positive for us in recent weeks, so we'll be keen for that to continue."
The loanee winger has now returned to parent club Hull City for a few days for treatment on the injury.

Fellow City forward Nahki Wells has also attracted interest from his country after being called up for Bermuda's latest round of FIFA World Cup 2014 Qualifiers.
Wells is now expected to meet up with the Bermuda squad next Monday ahead of their matches with Trinidad & Tobago (October 7) and Guyana (October 11).
Wells, who featured in both of Bermuda's first two qualifiers back in September, is now scheduled to miss City's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Huddersfield Town and the home League 2 fixture with Torquay United as a result.

Wayne Jacobs up three mountains in 24 hours
On 28th September 'Jakes' and his team will take on three mountains in three countries in 24 hours. The challenge is described as "One of the ultimate challenges in the United Kingdom" and will see One in a Million climb the three highest peaks in Great Britain. Ben Nevis at 1344m, Scafell Pike at 978m and Snowdon at 1085m offers a monumental challenge for the team.
Wayne said "We're doing it for the children and young people of Bradford to support them and to show them we believe in them. Believing the best for Bradford." Another of Bradford's favourite sons, Brian Noble is supporting the event but unfortunately cannot walk it due to a recent operation failing to heal as quickly as expected.

By Simon Parker (T&A)
City blew a half-time lead and finished well beaten at promotion favourites
Crawley this afternoon.
Kyel Reid had fired the Bantams ahead after 12 minutes. But Crawley upped
their game to dominate the second half, scoring three times to leave Phil
Parkinson still waiting for his first win as boss.
City had the first chance after 11 minutes as the unmarked Chris Mitchell
set up Jamie Devitt for a shot which Claude Davis blocked on the line.
But the visitors were ahead within a minute. Crawley paid the price for
giving Reid too much space to fire a left-foot drive into the bottom corner
from 20 yards.
Davis went close with a header but City continued to look dangerous going
forward and Scott Shearer parried a fierce effort by Devitt.
Crawley pushed for an equaliser as Matt Duke denied Scott Neilson a goal
against his former club and then watched Andy Drury's curler clip off Liam
Moore and hit the bar.
Matt Tubbs stabbed across goal from just inside the penalty area but City
were still in front at the break.
The play was going one way though and Crawley were level nine minutes into
the second half. Tyrone Barnett released Tubbs and then continued his run to
meet the cross with a diving header.
Neilson was desperate to score and, having been denied by a good save from
Duke, sent another drive just over.
But Crawley were well on top and the pressure produced a second goal just
after the hour. City couldn't clear their lines from a free-kick and
debutant Drury scored from 15 yards.
It should have got worse but the unmarked Tom Eastman headed wide from a
corner.
Craig Fagan came on for his debut and was later joined by Ross Hannah. Lewis
Hunt had earlier come on for his first appearance of the season - only to
make way himself for Hannah as City went 4-3-3 in the closing stages.
Barnett should have wrapped it up after a mistake by Luke Oliver but missed
the target when clean through.
Fagan's clever pass set up Hannah for City's first shot of the half and the
former Hull striker had his own effort blocked.
But another Oliver blunder sealed their fate, Barnett running the ball home
after the centre half's backpass fell short of Duke.

Bradford City's Valley Parade will reach its 125th anniversary as a sports ground this Sunday. Richard Sutcliffe reports.
AS the man who masterminded the re-building of Valley Parade in the wake of the fire disaster and someone who, by his own admission, "has done most jobs at Bradford City but manage the team", Jack Tordoff understandably has a huge attachment to one of Yorkshire's oldest sporting venues.
However, had the club's life president had his way a little over a quarter of a century ago, the Bantams would now be playing elsewhere in the city.
"I do feel we missed something of an opportunity in the aftermath of the fire," admits Tordoff to the Yorkshire Post when asked about Valley Parade's forthcoming 125th anniversary as a sports ground.
"The fire was, of course, a horrible time. Fifty-six people lost their lives and the effect on the city was huge, and probably something that can't be put into words. You had to be in Bradford at that time to understand just what the city went through.
"I had returned to the board in 1983 with Stafford (Heginbotham, City chairman at the time of the fire) to save the club. We did that and Trevor (Cherry, manager) built a good, young team and things turned round.
"But then the fire happened..." Tordoff's voice trails off as his thoughts return to the horrors of May 11, 1985, when it took just four minutes for the Valley Parade main stand to be engulfed in flames during what should have been a day of celebration for City, who ahead of kick-off had been presented with the Third Division title.
"Bradford was left in shock but we, at the club, had to try and plan a way forward for Bradford City," says Tordoff, whose tremendous drive and acute business sense helped transform JCT600 into one of the country's leading companies with a turnover of more than £600m.

PARKIN IS NEW NUMBER TWO AT BRADFORD CITY
By Simon Parker (T&A)
Steve Parkin today began work as Phil Parkinson's new number two at Valley
Parade.
The 45-year-old former Rochdale, Barnsley and Mansfield boss has filled the
vacancy which was left by Colin Cooper's sudden return to Middlesbrough.
Parkin was first-team coach with Hull for three years before a five-month
stint in the same role at Scunthorpe until March.
Parkinson said: "There have been several people in my mind to bring in but I
really feel we have got the best man for the job.
"It's like signing a player. You have to get the right one in who will
complement the staff we've already got in place.
"Steve is desperate to get back in and everyone in football knows about his
honesty and work ethic. That's so important."
Wayne Allison, who had been filling in as assistant, will revert back to his
coaching role with the development squad.

Stoke defender joins Bradford City on loan
11:48am Friday 23rd September 2011
By Simon Parker
City have signed Stoke centre half Andrew Davies on a three-month emergency loan.
Providing the relevant paperwork is done in time, the 6ft 3in 26-year-old, capped once by England under-21s, is likely to go straight into the squad for tomorrow's home clash with AFC Wimbledon. Loan players must be registered at least three hours before kick-off.
It is a ninth loan spell for Davies, who has past Premier League and UEFA Cup experience with hometown club Middlesbrough.
Davies left Boro for Southampton, where he was named their player of the season, before joining Stoke for £1m in August 2008.
He has had limited opportunities with the Potters and has since spent spells with Preston, Sheffield United and Walsall as well as returning to the Riverside for the final three months of last season.
Davies started this campaign in the Championship with a month at Crystal Palace but made only one league appearance.

Hospital drama a real pain for Bradford City manager Phil Parkinson
7:30am Wednesday 21st September 2011
By Simon Parker
Phil Parkinson is on medical watch with City's walking wounded ahead of the home clash with Wimbledon.
Michael Flynn, Kyel Reid, Liam Moore and Robbie Threlfall are all concerns for the Bantams boss as he looks for his first win in charge.
Flynn was having a scan on his calf last night while Moore (wrist) and Reid (foot) have both had X-rays on their injuries. Fortunately, Moore's X-ray result last night showed no break.
Threlfall is still recovering from the hip problem that forced him off early at Crawley.
Parkinson admitted: "It's a bit like Emergency Ward Ten down there. We've had people going back and forth to hospital all week.
"We've kept the same team for the last three games and it was good to have that continuity and not chop and change.
"Everyone understands each other's roles and we've been fortunate to go with the same players. But this could be a chance for a few others to come in."
Flynn and Threlfall both felt problems as they warmed up on Saturday. Parkinson admitted: "I don't know whether it was the long coach journey but it's very unusual because they've been doing the same warm-up all season.
"Neither of them is serious but we'll look at what's happened.
"In fairness to James Hanson, he also played with an injury from the Port Vale game and had to take pain killers."
Parkinson has also outlined the way he is working with Archie Christie. There were rumours that City's head of football development, who controls the playing budget, and Peter Jackson did not get on but Parkinson is familiar with his role.
He added: "In any club, there's someone who does the Archie role. Sometimes it's the chairman who negotiates contracts, sometimes it's the chief executive or the director of football.
"These days it's very difficult for the manager to do everything. You need that support system round you and people who can take some of that workload off can really help.
"Since I've been here, Archie has got a few deals over the line which could have been difficult and time-consuming for me and got the job done.
"Going back to my Colchester days, there was the chief executive Marie Partner who was good at dotting the I's and crossing the T's to finish negotiations. It was the same thing at Charlton."

Match report
Npower League Two
Port Vale (2) 3 Taylor 5, 39, Pope 90.
Bradford C (1) 2 Devitt 24, Jones 50.
Att: 4,769
By Simon Parker (T&A)
Tom Pope's stoppage-time header condemned City to the first defeat of Phil
Parkinson's reign at the end of a thrilling clash.
City had twice equalised but were undone right at the death by the striker
who had beaten them on their last visit.
Vale began with a bang and were ahead after four minutes as Robert Taylor
beat Matt Duke with a swerving blast from 30 yards.
But City recovered from the early storm and their equaliser midway through
the half was just as decent. Kyel Reid's trickery opened up a gap and Jamie
Devitt fired home from the edge of the D.
It was another entertaining game as City went close to a second goal, Guy
Branston seeing his header from Chris Mitchell's corner superbly tipped on
to the bar by Chris Martin.
But Vale regained the lead in farcical fashion as Taylor's deflected lob
into the goalmouth dropped behind Matt Duke.
City levelled for a second time soon after half-time as Ritchie Jones opened
his account for the club after an assist from Devitt.
It was a tough night for both goalkeepers in the swirling wind. But Duke
made up for his part in Vale's second with a one-handed save from Andy
Little.
Sub Jack Compton had a late shot pushed away but Vale had the final say as
Pope powered home Doug Loft's cross.
===========================
PHIL PARKINSON RUES DEFENSIVE FRAILTY
By Simon Parker (T&A)
Phil Parkinson admitted City have to do more defensively after their
last-gasp choker at Port Vale.
The Bantams went down 3-2 to Tom Pope's header in stoppage time, having
twice equalised through Jamie Devitt and Ritchie Jones.
Parkinson had seen his side score at the same dramatic stage in his previous
two games and said: "It hurts to concede like that.
"We'd got back in the game, put in a solid second-half display and then you
lose like that.
"The players put a lot into the game and they're low in the dressing room.
I've got to lift them to go again.
"We've brought in some attacking players, which we needed, but equally to
win games we need a strong platform to build from."
Parkinson's bid to bring in another experienced striker is still on-going.
"There's reasons for it dragging on but that's nothing to do with us being
indecisive. It's not easy."

Parkinson locates the positives
Posted on: Wed 14 Sep 2011
Despite admitting to feeling hurt after City's last grasp defeat at the hands of Port Vale, Bantams boss Phil Parkinson was still able to take away some positives from his side's display at Vale Park.
Parkinson's side looked set for a hard-fought away point after twice coming from behind against the Valiants until Vale striker Tom Pope struck in the final minute of injury time to snatch all three points for the hosts.
"We showed a lot of good stuff again tonight, but it just hurts when you lose a game in the manner that we did," said Parkinson.
"Some of the attacking play tonight, with Reidy (Kyel Reid) and (Jamie) Devitt in particular, was excellent and we looked a threat.
"I thought the first half, while we looked vulnerable defensively, we still looked threatening going forward. In the second half I thought we carried that same threat in attack.
"Reidy had cramp on Saturday so we brought him off a bit early tonight to protect him. Devitt had ran himself into the ground as well.
"As much as we would have liked to have kept him on, we would have run the risk of an injury and I also felt we needed some fresh legs.
"Devitt's strike tonight was as good a strike as you'll see and I'm pleased for Ritchie (to score) because we all thought he'd scored on Saturday with that headed opportunity he had.

Bradford City: David Syers wishing for a merry Christmas
8:30am Saturday 17th September 2011
By Simon Parker
Dave Syers hopes to present himself to City boss Phil Parkinson as an early Christmas gift.
The all-action midfielder entered the next stage of his recovery this week after shedding the knee brace he has been wearing for the past month.
And while he is still a fair way off making his comeback, he can see some light at the end of a long tunnel.
Syers said: "There are three phases – getting the ligament healed, building the leg back up and then finally getting my fitness back. It's good to be moving into the second one and to be able to do things like drive again.
"I'm not racing to be back fit. Obviously I want to play again as early as possible but I'm making sure I don't push it too far and come back too soon.
"I'm hoping to be back for the busy Christmas rush because those are the times when you need your whole squad. If I get some games around that time, I'll be more than happy."
Syers' season has been put on hold since the opening week when he clattered into Leeds keeper Andy Lonergan during an outstanding display in the Carling Cup tie at Elland Road.
He admitted it was a nervous occasion waiting for the specialist's verdict to see if the brace had done its job.
"That was the first time he'd seen the knee since the brace had gone on so I wasn't sure what he was going to do.
"I was dreading him saying that it was healing slowly and I'd have to leave it on. That would have depressed me a lot.
"I really was sick of it so to be able to take it off was a great relief and that's reinvigorated me again for the next step.
"It's still quite a dangerous time because the knee's got so little support from the muscles around it. We'll have to be quite careful over the next few weeks while we build them up again and slowly reintroduce the whole leg to movement."
Parkinson will have to bide his time for a glimpse of him in action and Syers appreciates he is not top of the manager's list of priorities right now.
Syers added: "It's not the best time to be on the sidelines when a new gaffer comes in. I've had a little chat with him but obviously first and foremost he wants to turn the results around and concentrate on the first 16 (players).
"He's got that to focus on and my job is to get my head down and work my way gradually towards that squad.
"He's a very good coach and I've just got to get myself fit and then I'll be able to show him what I can do.
"The gaffer also lives quite near me so I can always try and get some lifts off him and make my point that way!"
Syers has fellow casualties Lee Bullock and Simon Ramsden to share his frustration as they look on from the outside. But he is determined to remain positive.
He said: "When I was stuck at home the first week and not able to do anything, you start to feel very sorry for yourself.
"But it could have been a lot worse. For me, I was just glad that I hadn't done my anterior cruciate, which would have needed an operation.
"That would have been six to eight months out and I could have missed the whole season.
"Everyone's going to get injuries in their career and if this is the worst one I will have, then I'll count myself lucky."

1:09pm Friday 16th September 2011
Former Bradford City player and manager Terry Yorath was taken to hospital last night after a fire at his flat in Leeds.
Mr Yorath, 61, was found collapsed outside his home in Alwoodley after fleeing the kitchen blaze.
He was given oxygen at the scene by fire crews before being taken to hospital by ambulance. He was released after treatment and allowed to return home.
Mr Yorath played for Bradford City between 1982 and 1985, and managed Bradford in the 1989-90 season.
He had earlier enjoyed a successful career with Leeds United and regularly played international football for Wales. He had a five years spell as Wales boss between 1988 and 1993.
He is the father of the television presenter Gabby Logan.

===========================
"Ritchie is a good finisher and you'd fancy him to chip in with a few goals this season."

Late drama as penalty king Flynn rescues deserved point for Bradford City
7:20am Monday 12th September 2011
By Simon Parker
Bradford City 2 Bristol Rovers 2
They say that you cannot replicate the tension of a penalty shoot-out in training.
Try telling that to Michael Flynn.
The Welshman was City's last-gasp hero after being put on the spot in the third of four added minutes.
Flynn, who had already scored a penalty, promptly obliged by smashing his second one into the opposite corner and made sure City got a richly-deserved point from such a bright and bubbly display.
And the midfielder revealed he had made up his mind after winning a spot-kick contest at Apperley Bridge the day before.
Phil Parkinson had not got round to naming his official penalty-taker so he organised a competition at training for the honour.
Flynn admitted he did not expect to see it through.
He said: "The gaffer wanted to have a look at us having a go before he made his decision.
"Jay Devitt put the first one of his in the top corner and Jack (Compton) always finds it as well.
"But Jay then missed the next three so he was ruled out. Ritchie Jones was in with a shout but he smashed it over the bar and Jack hit the post.
"So I had to step up and scored again and the gaffer said 'you'll do for me'. I'm glad he had the faith in me."
No wonder Flynn felt under more pressure for the first penalty in the 63rd minute rather than the ultimate leveller half an hour later.
He had missed his last one at the same end two seasons ago against Lincoln. But there were no flashbacks as he confidently sent giant Rovers keeper Scott Bevan diving the wrong way.
Bevan guessed right second time around but Flynn's finish was too precise. It was something straight off the training ground.
"I'd put them both sides the day before," he added. "I knew if I put it in the same corner then the keeper wouldn't save it.
"It was the exact spot and height where I wanted it."
Substitute Compton had been ready to step forward but Parkinson quickly shouted to tell him otherwise. The boss was happy to see his decision vindicated – even if he didn't actually see the ball go in!
"I was looking at the ground and waiting for the crowd to cheer," he smiled afterwards.
"But I like Flynny's technique. He scored the first one and was playing very well and it would have been bad practice to let someone else take it."
So again the early leavers would have missed City snatching their point at the death. But just like Morecambe the week before, they had earned some reward.
Paul Buckle was livid over the "outrageous" decision given for Lee Brown's push on Devitt and made a beeline for referee Nigel Miller at the final whistle.
You could understand why he felt so short-changed. Flynn himself didn't think it was a penalty, not that he had any qualms about making it count.
But it would have been an equal travesty for City if they had come out with nothing from Parkinson's first home game.
They had played with a style and verve that made a mockery of their difficult first month to the campaign. There was plenty of evidence to back up the positive vibes that the club have tried to encourage.
At the hub of it was Devitt, the free spirit who clearly looks too good for his present surroundings. Playing as the second striker off James Hanson, there was a buzz of anticipation every time the young Irishman got the ball.
True, sometimes he would hang on to it too long or try a fancy touch when a more sensible one might have done but he looks an exciting talent and was too hot for Rovers to handle.
Devitt was the victim for both penalties. However soft they seemed in Bristol eyes, it was clear that he terrified their defenders in and around the box.
Flynn said: "He causes problems and takes the pressure off the team. We're not so one-dimensional all the time.
"Jay is the type of player who can pull a goal or a penalty out of nothing."
Kyel Reid, too, caught the eye on the left wing and was happy to try his luck with right back Dan Woodards at every opportunity. How refreshing it is to see City using the full width of the pitch again.
Yet they still twice had to come from behind.
Ritchie Jones, another having a very good afternoon, should have scored but his header was superbly turned away by Bevan.
Then after having a goal ruled out for a push on Matt Duke, Rovers struck just before the break. Luke Oliver misjudged a raking ball from Matt Gill and Matt Harrold nodded firmly beyond the keeper.
But City rode that blow and were level soon after the hour.
Hanson's header was blocked on the line and Devitt was clipped by Harrold as he followed up, allowing Flynn his first chance to justify his training-ground crown.
At that point, City took their foot off the gas. Parkinson detected a feeling of job done and Rovers took advantage with a stunning second, Eliot Richards blasting into the roof of Duke's net.
Surely they couldn't raise themselves for another injury-time climax? You bet.
Brown's contact on Devitt looked minimal but the officials were convinced. And up stepped Flynn again with a goal that had "made at Rawdon Meadows" stamped all over it.

Npower League Two
Morecambe (0) 1 Reid 57
Bradford C (0) 1 Hannah 90+3
Att: 4,025
By Simon Parker (T&A)
Super-sub Ross Hannah fired a dramatic stoppage-time leveller to rescue a
point for City in Phil Parkinson's first game.
Hannah converted Jack Compton's cross in the third of four added minutes to
send his new boss into raptures.
His equaliser also robbed Morecambe of top spot - as well as saving City
from dropping into the bottom two.
Referee Andy Haines put back the kick-off five minutes after the City coach
was held up by a motorway accident.
So it was no surprise that the game struggled to flow for much of the first
half.
City had an escape when Phil Jevons fired just over following a mistake by
Chris Mitchell.
But otherwise a dour first quarter was summed up when Stewart Drummond's
volley cleared the top of the stand packed with away fans.
Both sides were cancelling each other out with neither keeper called upon to
make a save.
Kyel Reid, making his Bantams debut, showed the first bit of quality after
36 minutes with a clever turn and spin away from his marker before embarking
on a 40-yard dash.
Robbie Threlfall then curled a free-kick the wrong side of the post after
Stewart had been clattered just outside the box.
Luke Oliver, up field for a set piece, was not far away with a curling
effort of his own soon after the break.
Reid did well again to manufacture a shot from a tight angle which Barry
Roche pushed away.
But it was namesake Izak Reid who broke the deadlock just before the hour.
Laurence Wilson crashed a long-range effort against the bar, City could not
clear the loose ball and Reid lashed home an unstoppable volley.
Jamie Devitt came on for Mitchell and immediately tested Roche with a
free-kick. Then the keeper used his legs to deny James Hanson from close
range.
Morecambe nearly had a second as Michael Flynn headed off the line from
Jevons and Matt Duke parried Drummond's follow-up.
Sub Lewis Alessandra added to the danger, going close with one determined
effort and then seeing another tipped over the bar by City's new keeper.
City rallied in stoppage time and screamed in vain for a penalty. But then
up popped Hannah to sweep home a priceless equaliser.

PARKINSON PUSHES FOR HUNT HUNGER
New Bradford City boss Phil Parkinson has challenged defender Lewis Hunt to
show the appetite to re-establish his place in the first team.
Hunt, who was told he could leave Valley Parade this summer, is yet to
feature for the Bantams this term but could soon be recalled as defensive
trio Steve Williams, Lee Bullock and Simon Ramsden have all been sidelined
with injuries.
Parkinson told the Telegraph & Argus: "Lewis is the next player to go in
[the team] if we get an injury at right-back or centre-half. That's why we
need him fit and ready. We aren't in a position to let him go unless we get
somebody in the other way.
"I want him to get his head down, get back up to speed and work hard for his
own career. He needs to rediscover the appetite to play.
"Lewis has played a lot at this level before so there's no problem there.
"If he wants to move on, then it's something we can look at but we're
certainly not trying to move him on."
===========================
PARKY TO BOOST BANTAMS SQUAD
Bradford City boss Phil Parkinson has told fans to expect more new faces to
arrive at Valley Parade in the coming weeks.
With the loan window opening on Thursday, and unattached players still
eligible for registration, Parkinson has insisted he will be assessing his
options in order to strengthen the squad.
He told the club's official website: "We are working on a few things at the
moment and speaking to some people at present.
"As I said last Wednesday, we didn't want to sign someone on transfer
deadline day just for the sake of getting on Sky Sports News at 11pm.
"We could easily have brought someone in on that day just for the sake of
it.
"There is still money in the budget now because we chose to hold back that
day but we have to get the right type of player in."
===========================
JANSSON TO MAKE SPURS RETURN
Bradford City have allowed goalkeeper Oscar Jansson to return to Tottenham
before his deal expires after the arrival of Matt Duke.
The 20-year-old linked up with Bradford on a one-month loan during the first
week of the season and his shoot-out heroics helped the club defeat
Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
But the signing of Duke, who has Premier League experience from his seven
years with Hull, meant the Bantams could not justify keeping Jansson at
Valley Parade.
Manager Phil Parkinson told the club's official website: "I'd firstly like
to thank Oscar for all his efforts during his time here.
In the short period I've been at the club, he has been no problem at all and
always trained in a professional manner.
"Unfortunately for Oscar, though, we cannot sustain three goalkeepers on our
books at the moment with Dukey [Matt Duke] and Jon [McLaughlin] here as
well.
"I am sure fans will remember Oscar fondly, especially thanks for his
penalty saves in the Sheffield Wednesday match."

Colin Cooper leaves the Bantams
Posted on: Thu 08 Sep 2011
The football club can confirm that Assistant Manager Colin Cooper will leave the Bantams with immediate effect to take up a coaching position in the Championship.
The 44 year old former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest defender has been at the club since joining up with the then-City boss Peter Jackson as his assistant in March this year.
The rest of City's remaining backroom staff will be on hand to assist Phil Parkinson this Saturday for the Bantams' home League 2 match with Bristol Rovers.
"Yes, Colin has now left us," confirmed Parkinson.
"It has all happened pretty quickly this week to be honest.
"He has been made an offer, and it is one that he believes is too good to turn down. We would obviously have liked him to stay, but we have to respect his decision.
"I have to stay that Colin has been excellent with me since I've arrived at the club and I wish him all the best."
The departing Cooper added: "I'd like to thank all the fans for their generous support throughout my time at the football club, especially during the week or so that I was in charge after Peter (Jackson) left.
"I'd also like to wish Phil and the lads all the very best for the future."

Oscar winner! Keeper is Bradford City spot-kick hero against Owls
7:20am Wednesday 31st August 2011

Bradford City 0 Sheffield Wednesday 0
City win 3-1 on penalties
Over to you, Phil Parkinson. City were penalty perfect at Valley Parade last night to ensure Colin Cooper handed over the reins with a second successive win.
Two saves from Oscar Jansson in the shoot-out helped the Bantams sink their Yorkshire rivals 3-1 after a goalless 90 minutes.
But this was no lottery. The game had taken until the second half to come to life but City were certainly the stronger team and created all the clear-cut chances in open play.
Cooper had named the same side that had earned the season's first victory on Saturday. New arrival Kyel Reid was not among the subs.
A day out at Wembley may be the prize for this year's finalists but Gary Megson showed where he rates the competition by making all three Wednesday subs within the first 17 minutes. Keeper Nicky Weaver went off after just 90 seconds as the Wednesday boss cynically skirted round the rule of having to start with six regular first-teamers.
Jack Compton showed a clean pair of heels to right back Liam Palmer early on but it was Wednesday who enjoyed most of the ball without creating anything obvious.
Clinton Morrison's shot on the turn was smothered by the hulking frame of Guy Branston while Giles Coke's free-kick deflected harmlessly off the wall.
Then the combination of Branston, a Wednesday old boy, and Jansson shut the door on Morrison inside the six-yard box from Chris Sedgwick's cross.
City's first serious attempt of a sterile half came after 39 minutes as Chris Mitchell looped a header over. Robbie Threlfall popped up promisingly in the corner of the box but couldn't get the cross right.
But City could have broken the dull deadlock right on the interval.
Michael Flynn's clearance sent Mark Stewart scampering away and he forced a mistake out of 16-year-old debutant defender Ayo Obileye. The Scot's initial pass was blocked by Mark Beevers but the ball ricocheted to James Hanson at the far post, who put his header a foot the wrong side of the post.
Another Obileye blunder gifted City a great chance within 20 seconds of the restart. Compton nipped on to his hesitant back-pass but keeper Richard O'Donnell managed to block.
Obileye's nerves continued when he gave the ball away to Stewart but again O'Donnell came to the rescue.
The home side had found a bit of tempo and Compton's cross fizzed invitingly across the goalmouth.
Stewart had worked hard again but made way for Ross Hannah after 56 minutes, presumably with Saturday in mind. It gave Sheffield-born Hannah the chance to face his boyhood heroes.
City continued to up the ante and Luke Oliver thought he had scored with a glancing header from Mitchell's corner. The big man started to celebrate but Cecil Nyoni cleared off the line – it looked over – and Flynn hammered the rebound wide.
City finished just as strongly. O'Donnell pulled off a reflex save six minutes from time to keep out a thundering volley from Ritchie Jones and Oliver, having another fine game, clipped the bar right on full-time from Threlfall's inviting free-kick.
But penalties brought the right result. Jones, Flynn and Hannah were all spot-on and Parkinson can look forward to a spot in round two.
CITY: Jansson 7, Moore 7, Branston 7, Oliver 8, Threlfall 6, Mitchell 6 (Bryan 72min), Flynn 6, Jones 6, Compton 7 (O'Brien 85min), Stewart 7 (Hannah 56min, 6), Hanson 6. Subs (not used): Hunt, McLaughlin.
SHEFF WED: Weaver n/a (O'Donnell 2min, 8), Palmer 5, Beevers 6, Obileye 4, Reynolds 6, Sedgwick 6, Semedo n/a (Coke 17min, 6), Prutton n/a (Nyoni 17min, 6), O'Connor 6, Uchechi 6, Morrison 6. Sub (not used): Lines.

COOPER SET FOR BANTAMS STAY
thursday Sep 1st
Colin Cooper is set to stay at Bradford as new boss Phil Parkinson's
assistant.
Cooper took charge of the Bantams following Peter Jackson's resignation and
won both of his matches as caretaker boss.
Despite fears that Cooper may be turfed out following Parkinson's arrival,
the incoming manager revealed he was happy to keep the former Middlesbrough
defender on.
He told the club's official website: "Colin is going to stay on as my
assistant.
"I had a chat with him and he has agreed to work together to really improve
things and take the club forward."

BRADFORD CITY MAKE DEADLINE-DAY DOUBLE SWOOP
By Simon Parker (T&A)
City have signed former Hull goalkeeper Matt Duke on a two-year deal.
And they are also taking Tigers winger Jamie Devitt on loan for six months.
Duke, 34, has been looking for a club since being released in the summer
after seven years at the KC Stadium.
The long-term understudy to one-time City loanee Boaz Myhill, the 6ft 5in
stopper was restricted to 50 league appearances.
His best run was ten successive games during Hull's stint in the Premier
League. He saved a penalty against West Ham on his top flight debut.
Duke has been training all summer with Sheffield United after rejecting a
possible move to Rochdale. He had also been linked with Reading.
Dubliner Devitt, 21, has played 16 league games for Hull but also gained
experience with loan spells at Darlington, Shrewsbury and Grimsby.
His only outing so far this season was a start in Hull's 2-0 home defeat to
Macclesfield in the Carling Cup.

BENTLEY WANTS MASSIVE CROWD
Morecambe manager Jim Bentley is urging fans to turn out in force when
Bradford City visit the Globe Arena on Saturday.
The Shrimps lie second in League Two after recording four successive wins
which have encouraged hopes of a serious push for promotion.
Yet Bentley says the fans must play their part too after admitting he has
been disappointed with the attendances of his side's two home games so far.
He said: "We have had two home games now and it's fair to say we have been
disappointed with the crowds to date.
"We all know Bradford will bring a big following on Saturday and it is
always a game that has a great atmosphere and I hope our supporters get down
in big numbers to watch us.
"The lads have certainly done everything that has been asked of them so far
and deserve the support."

Workaholic double act Phil Parkinson and Archie Christie can spark Bradford City revival
7:00am Friday 2nd September 2011
By Simon Parker
Julian Rhodes insists "hard graft" is the only recipe for City success this season.
And he believes that the combination of new boss Phil Parkinson and influential chief scout Archie Christie are the perfect pair to set the example needed.
While Parkinson settles into the hot-seat hurriedly vacated by Peter Jackson, Rhodes today lauded Christie's contribution behind the scenes.
The big Scot has come in for flak from some quarters, with fingers pointed his way over Jackson's sudden departure.
As head of player development, Christie controls the budget. He is effectively City's director of football in all but name – while currently still only working for expenses. He has already had a major hand in the club's restructure since the end of last season.
Joint-chairman Rhodes said: "He has a lot of ideas and is very forthright in his opinions.
"Archie is not everybody's cup of tea but he works extremely hard. The number of times I've had e-mails off him at 3am – he's non-stop.
"And in the last few months it's cost him money to work for us.
"He's a very good door opener. He's not shy and has no problem picking up the phone speaking to agents and other clubs.
"He'll try to get us the best possible deal, whether it be for the development squad, the first team or youth team. He works within a budget and he's good at that.
"Archie has unearthed all sorts of players for us. Look at some of the lads he's brought in to the development squad – names we'd never heard of who look really good prospects.
"He was also responsible for the likes of Mitchell and Stewart, Ritchie Jones and Jansson. He's had a real impact on the first team and he will continue to do that."
While careful not to criticise Jackson, Rhodes is convinced Parkinson's reputation for putting in long hours will match that work ethic.
He added: "The only way this club is going to progress is through hard graft. That's it, we have to work hard.
"All over the summer that was the whole ethos. It was manic at times, there were some long days and nights.
"I think it would be fair to say Peter found that difficult. But we were determined that this was the way things had to be.
"Mark (Lawn) and I are very much people who don't stop just because you're on holiday or it's the weekend.
"It's a football club and things can happen at any point. You have to be prepared for that.
"That's the way Archie works and that's why we like him.
"When Peter fell on his sword last week and did the honourable thing for benefit of the club, we wanted to bring in a manager with the same work ethic as the rest of us.
"Within a few minutes of meeting Phil I knew, and I think Mark knew, he was that guy."
