ARSENAL FANS TO PAY RESPECTS TO 56 FIRE VICTIMS
From www.footballdirectnews.com

Arsenal fans are planning to pay their respects to the 56 Bradford City and
Lincoln fans that died in a fire 29 years ago with a minute's applause at
the FA Cup final.

Nordi of the Black Scarf Movement, a protest group led by Arsenal fans who
have long campaigned for better treatment of fans from the club's board,
informed [football] direct news of this mark of respect, which they are
hoping will also spread throughout Wembley Stadium to the Hull City fans,
Arsenal's opponents in this weekend's final.

There was recently a memorial attended by hundreds of fans to mark the 29th
anniversary of this disaster, which saw 56 fans die in a fire at the Valley
Parade Stadium in a match against Lincoln.

However, Nordi does not feel that the Premier League or the media have given
a great deal of coverage to this event, and supports the idea of a minute's
applause in the 56th minute of the game at Wembley.

"There is a growing feeling among older fans that the PL and media have not
paid respect to those who lost lives and were injured at the Bradford fire,"
Nordi explained.

"As a mark of respect the fans will stand and clap at 56 minutes to mark the
anniversary of the sad event.

"This is growing on the social media among AFC fans, and emails have been
sent to Hull fans and Bradford. This is not just the BSM but we do support
it and want to help the fans make it happen."
